2021 Fall Baseball (Sent: 4-July-2021)

Each year about this time the Rosemount Travelling Baseball (RTB) board starts getting questions about fall baseball opportunities.  There is no formal RTB program for fall baseball, although several of our board members have experience participating in or coaching fall teams.  This email is an attempt to pass on some of that experience to those that may be interested in participating.

With fall ball players register for the age level they will be next summer season (e.g. an 11U player this summer would register for 12U in the fall).  This is a great opportunity to get game experience with next year’s rules and field sizes.  Fall baseball is more recreational than the summer season as teams formed are often a mix of players from various summer levels.  It provides a lower pressure opportunity to further develop and improve baseball skills in game situations.

Fall baseball teams can be organized by any parent interested in coaching a team.  The coach will utilize their network to find players to fill a team.  There are no tryouts for fall baseball.  If a full team of players cannot be found the group can register with the players they have and the league will attempt to match up individual registrations to help fill out the roster.  Players can also register with the fall ball league individually and will be placed on a team with players from various communities.

Most teams and players register with MBL, which is the league our summer program plays in. Metro Baseball League  They offer both a recreational and more competitive level of play and costs run between $90 to $115 per player.  Registrations are due by August 14th.

Games are played as double headers on the first five Sunday’s following Labor Day (9/12 thru 10/10).  Generally three team pools are scheduled for two games each on those Sundays, so each team will be scheduled for 10 games total.  Games are typically hosted at the field of one of the three teams.

Rosemount has three city fields available for hosting Sunday games and for practices; UMore 1 & 2 and Bloomfield.  We will also attempt to reserve the RHS Varsity field.  If you’re coaching and interested in scheduling one of those fields for practices, please contact Mark Hartley (mark_hartley@comcast.net).

UPDATED/REVISED Photo Schedule - June 2 (Sent: 14-May-2021)

RMS added a band concert on June 2nd, after we sent out the original schedule,  Since this impacts a large number of our families we have revised the schedule.

Attached below is the updated/revised schedule.

Please disregard the times listed on the order forms, as those were printed with the original scheduled times.

The location for this event will be at the green space just south of the Dome, currently set up as a lacrosse practice field (park in the hockey arena parking lot).  Indoor space is reserved should there be a weather event.  We will communicate that location later, should we need it.

Thanks for your understanding,

Rosemount Traveling Baseball

January Update – Registration, Tryouts, Coaching (Sent: 20-JAN-2021)

Registration for the 2021 Traveling Baseball season is now open. Tryouts will take place Friday, March 5th and Saturday, March 6th. One key change for this year is all age groups except 9’s will only have one tryout session. This was not an easy decision for the board but there is precedent in this approach as many area programs conduct single session tryouts. This is the best solution for 2021 Traveling Baseball given several circumstances beyond our control including COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, conflicts with MYAS Boys Grade State Basketball which now spans two weekends instead of one, extension of the youth hockey season, and availability of facilities and evaluators. Please see below for the detailed schedule by age group.

TRYOUT SCHEDULE: Fielding & Hitting at Irish Sports Dome

  • 9’s: Saturday, March 6th – 8:30 – 10:00AM & 1:30 – 3:00PM
  • 10’s: Friday, March 5th – 5:30 – 7:00PM
  • 11’s: Friday, March 5th – 7:00 – 8:30PM
  • 12’s: Friday, March 5th –
    8:30 – 10:00PM
  • 13’s: Saturday, March 6th – 10:00 – 11:30AM
  • 14/15’s: Saturday, March 6th – 12:00 – 1:30PM

***Please arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to your start time for sign-in and warmups.

REGISTRATION

Deadline for tryout registration is February 26, 2021.

2021 HEAD COACH SELECTION

If you are interested in being a head coach candidate for the 2021 season, please visit our website for more details.  https://www.rosemountbaseball.com/traveling-coaches-corner

We will be starting the interview process very soon!

We look forward to seeing your boys on the field soon!

Mask Reminder (Sent: 13-JAN-2021)

We wanted to send a friendly reminder that masks must be properly worn by everyone during their Sunday Dome sessions.  Failure to comply will result in removal from the Sunday clinics.

Below are a couple updates we received from the RAAA Board of Directors:

1. Mask Waivers- The RAAA Board voted to follow the Minnesota State High School League and MYBA policy listed below.   Any waiver request needs to be submitted to Sean Bailey @ Sean.Bailey@Rosemount-AAA.org to be reviewed by members of the board.   NOTE: Facility requirements take priority over any mask/face covering exemption and waivers may not be accepted.  District 196 will not accept waivers to our knowledge.

Those individuals seeking a mask/face covering exemption must obtain a written, medical exemption from a licensed medical professional who is registered, licensed, certified, or otherwise statutorily (MN Statute Chapters 147 & 148) authorized by the state to provide medical treatment and is practicing within the person’s medical training and scope of practice.

2. Masks must be worn at all times.   The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends using two layers of fabric when making a cloth mask/face covering. Mask/face coverings that are made of thinner single-layer fabric may not be as effective for blocking droplets that come out when speaking, coughing, or sneezing and should not be used unless there are no alternatives. A mask/face covering must cover the nose and mouth completely. The covering should not be overly tight or restrictive and should feel comfortable to wear. Any mask/face coverings that incorporate a valve that is designed to facilitate easy exhaling, mesh mask/face coverings, or mask/face coverings with openings, holes, visible gaps in the design or material, or vents are not sufficient face coverings because they allow droplets to be released from the mask.

Sunday Night Dome Clinic Protocols (Sent: 08-Jan-2021)

The Irish Sports Dome has advised some guidelines that need to be followed as we navigate these unprecedented times.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation in adhering to these items.

  • You may only enter the dome 5 minutes before your normal start time.  Please do not put the Dome Staff in the position of asking players to wait outside until that time.
  • NO CONGREGATING or MEETING after your time is ended.  Please proceed outdoors.
  • EVERYONE must always wear masks, including those in the field practicing/playing.  A face covering must cover the nose and mouth completely.  Anyone found not wearing a mask or wearing one properly, will be asked to leave the dome.  FYI – The Irish Sports Dome does have masks for sale at $1.00 each.
  • NO SPECTATORS - Spectators are not allowed at practices/games.
  • There are ‘Social Distance Dots’ around the outside of the netting in the Dome.  When participants are not on the field of practice/play, they must all be social distancing at a minimum of 6ft.  These ‘Social Distance Dots’ provide adequate spacing for social distancing.
  • The North Parking Lot is only open for Handicap, Permitted Coaches, Dome Staff and Emergency Vehicle access.  The North Gate will be open ½ for EXIT ONLY and ½ for pedestrians.  Schwartz Park Lot and Rosemount Community Center Lot can be used for staging of waiting parents.  NO VEHICLE WAITING/STANDING in Dome Driveway. There is an access road across from the new Skateboard Park, that will lead you to the South Gate entrance to the Irish Sports Dome.
  • Finally, please keep your child at home if they are not feeling well.

TRAVELING BASEBALL DECEMBER UPDATE (Sent: 22-DEC-2020)

Hello Rosemount Traveling Baseball families – The Traveling Baseball Board is actively preparing for the 2021 season.  Although there are many unknowns, related to COVID-19, we are hopeful the 2021 season will more closely resemble the “normal” baseball season we have grown accustomed to enjoying with our players.

Below are a few updates:

Baseball Bats –

After some deliberation, MBL has decided to stay with the USA Bats for the 2021 season.  However, it sounds like the USSSA bat will be allowed again in the 2022 season.  Please plan accordingly, as always bats will be checked for compliance at tryouts.

Tryout Dates –

MYAS threw us another curveball this year by splitting the Boys Grade State Basketball Tournament into (2) weekends instead of the one weekend they have historically held the tourney.  We have been formulating a plan to accommodate all players affected by this schedule.  We have a couple of scenarios planned.

If the dates for the MYAS Tournament get changed (due to the season starting later than planned), all players will tryout on March 5th and 6th as originally planned.

If the schedule for the MYAS holds, the plan is to have the 10’s, 11’s & 12’s tryout on Friday March 5th (in the evening) and again on Friday March 12th (in the morning).  March 12th is currently an ISD196 no school day.  The 9’s, 13’s and 14/15’s would have (2) tryout sessions on Saturday March 6th.

We will provide more details on the tryout schedule as the dates approach.

Double Rostering –

For the 2021 summer season, being rostered on a Rosemount Traveling Baseball team and a non-RAAA team will be permitted.  However, we kindly ask that you consider the time commitment that is required to be on a Traveling Baseball team when making your decision to commit to another team.

Traveling Board positions –

We are still in need of volunteers on our Board, specifically the role of Equipment Coordinator.  If you are interested in this role, please reply to this email message.

Winter Training & Tryout Registration –

Registration is still available for the Sunday night activities and Monday night hitting sessions.  The tryout registration will be available starting on January 1st.
